Hello families,
three flyers from Scholastic have been sent home. Please don't feel obligated to buy, at least not every time :) Orders are due on Friday October 4th.
Please return your child's folder each week so I can put more work to be sent home, or include any other messages home each Friday.
It is going to be a wet week! Please remember to pack a few extra clothes for your child. They go out at recess and lunch rain, or shine.

Goodbye to summer!
For Friday's show and tell students participating will be reminded throughout the week and a little reminder notice will be in your child's bag.
-please encourage your child to bring in something that has special meaning. They will introduce the item and speak a little about why this is special.
-could be a gift, toy, ornament, whatever they want but please remind them that it should be put away until we have show and tell and should be left in their backpack throughout the school hours.
*I am asking if any parents have a really delicious gingerbread recipe? If so would you consider making a really big cookie for our class unit? (It will be within the next 3-4 weeks). The gingerbread cookie will go missing within the school and my students will make lost posters in areas of the school. We will take a school tour searching for our gingerbread cookie around the school, reviewing places we have learned and staff we know along the way. Please stay posted as to when this will take place!

Kindergarten school fees
Hi parents, this morning I was told by several parents that they did not know there was a fee for kindergarten supplies used in the classroom. Could all parents try to remember to pay school fees, $40.00 cash or checque to me as soon as they can... thanks!

Welcome!
Dear Parents and Guardians;
I would like to take the time to welcome you, and your child to a new school year. Kindergarten is a fun and exciting time for everyone involved. I am very happy to be at Capilano Elementary and have enjoyed spending time with your child during their first week of school.
I would like to thank you all for supporting my instructions when dropping off and picking up your child. this has definitely helped with your child's transition to full-day kindergarten. Just a reminder all students and parents are asked to enter the school no earlier than 8:45 and please say your good-byes outside of the classroom. At the end of the day I will walk the children to the front of the school and stay with them until a parent/guardian arrives. Once your child is in school for the full-day, pick-up is a 3pm (2pm Wednesdays) at the front entrance of the school.
I would also appreciate if children could bring a pair of 'indoor' shoes for the classroom. Cubbies are provided outside of the classroom for 'outdoor' shoes, labeled with each student's name.
I believe nutrition is very important for student's success in school. Please pack nutritious snacks such as water, fruit and vegetables, as well as protein based foods like yogurt and cheese. These foods provide your child the necessary focus and energy for their busy day. Capilano does ask that no 'sweet treats' be brought to the school and their is also aiming for student's to bring a 'litterless' lunch, so please consider this when packing your child's lunch.
*Please let me know if your child has any dietary concerns.
I look forward to getting to know your child throughout the year. Please feel free to contact me via e-mail at wrogers@nvsd44.bc.ca.
*Could any parents who have not yet read and filled out school forms please get them in as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Wendy Rogers
